Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee

Our PTA is forming a new committee! Would you consider being on it? Our new committee is called the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
 
We know that our PTA can only be the strongest when our leaders and members reflect the diversity of our school and community. We are seeking multiple perspectives to help solve tough problems by bringing a variety of solutions to the table. 
 
Meetings for now will be via Zoom and would like to start meeting once a month, starting in November.

What we have come up with so far:

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (DEI)
 
PTAs are strongest when their leaders and members reflect the diversity of their own communities. We are seeking to have a culturally diverse committee which represents our school community.
 
Committee Goals:
  1. To have committee members who can help inform communities about what our PTA does. We have heard that there are several issues that might contribute to uncertainty about what PTA does — potentially cultural differences, language barriers, etc.
  2. Determine what can we do understand the needs of our school community and become more of a resource to all families.
  3. Come up with ideas about how our PTA can become more inclusive?
  4. Figure out events that will celebrate and include our entire school community!
